Cadillac Debuts Twin-Turbo V6

Good news for performance fans from The General; a new twin-turbo V6 will debut on the next generation CTS and XTS, good for 420 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque.

The 3.6L mill will apparently rocket the new CTS to 60 mph in 4.6 seconds, or about the same as an SRT8 Charger, while delivering 17/25 mpg. Apparently this engine won’t be featured in the ATS-V, but it will surely appear in some other GM products. The only question is what would be a good fit? The Camaro is an obvious choice, and the…

2013 Ford Transit Spy Photos: So Long, 1975! New Diesel and Twin-Turbo Haulers On the Way

What It Is: Ford’s upcoming full-size van and the replacement for the primeval E-series. The example spied here is a high-roof version; there will be a low-roof Transit available globally, but it may not come here. Other than its name, this new hauler is unrelated to the car-based Transit Connect and the European Transit Custom. In fact, the U.S.-market model may be marketed under the Transit banner but wear T-250, T-350, and T-450 badges. (more…)

2012 Mercedes-Benz E550 4MATIC Sedan Tested: A New Twin-Turbo V-8 Pushing Four Wheels

Mercedes-Benz, like many carmakers, is embracing the turbocharger en masse in reaction to calls for greater fuel efficiency. Smaller, forced-induction mills are spreading throughout the three-pointed star’s lineup; the only naturally aspirated holdouts are the company’s gasoline V-6s and the mighty 6.2-liter V-8 found in select AMG models. While such high-tech downsizing rarely comes without a cost—be it sticker shock, underwhelming performance, or overpromised fuel-economy ratings—this 2012 E55…

Ford Transit Van to Offer Twin-Turbo EcoBoost V-6 Engine

We hope you have lots of tie-down straps. Ford announced today that its upcoming Transit van will offer an optional twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V-6 engine. The same engine, when installed in the F-150, makes 365 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque.
Not to be confused with Ford’s compact Transit Connect van on sale now, the Transit is a full-size van and will replace (mostly) the E-series vans that have been in service for decades. Although the Transit’s platform is versatile enough to handle rear-, f…

2012 Mercedes-Benz ML63 AMG Photos and Info: Twin-Turbo V8, As Much as 550 Horses

Presenting the next-generation ML AMG. Why? Just because.
If being politically correct is as appealing to you as driving a railroad spike through your foot—and you’ve got some bucks—you’re probably in the target demographic for an insanely powerful sport-utility vehicle. They’re wasteful and unnecessary—which is exactly the point. You don’t buy a hyper-powerful SUV for serious off-roading, and you don’t buy one to take it to the racetrack or conquer the Dragon. You also don…

WOT Two Years Ago: Leno’s Twin-Turbo Camaro, Cobra Jet Mustang, Wacky Subaru SEMA Concept

November 2, 2009 – Chevrolet was preparing a series of Camaros for the SEMA show including one that continues to intrigue us: the Jay Leno Camaro. Elsewhere in the industry, we presented the possibility that the Toyota-Subaru collaboration could result in a sports car with a built-in circuit lap timer.
