I Didn’t Like TED. Then I Got It

TED welcome party TED Conference This was my first year at the cultural cartoon, crossroad of power, and factory of influence that is TED. I’ve spent my career following the rich and freewheeling through high-minded gatherings in the Bay Area, Aspen, New York, but this event, an invite-only affair lubricated by free artisanal coffee, a tasteful and jam-packed gift bag, and other high-value production details, plays by different rules. If the Nissan GT-R is Godzilla, then the AMS Alpha 12 GT-R is Mechagodzilla

The Nissan GT-R is an amazing sports car. Since it’s introduction in 2007 it has gained both a huge following as well as a huge amount of respect from gear heads everywhere. Behold the AMS Alpha 12 GT-R, the Mechagodzilla to the stock Nissan GT-R. You supply the folks at AMS with a 2009 or later GT-R, a check, and proof of insanity, and they will present you with …

The new Impala: Oshawa gets it, then it doesn’t. What’s up?

This is the all-new Chevrolet Impala, as presented at the New York Auto Show. Handsome thing and probably going to be a big seller for General Motors.
That seemed to be the company's assessment as well. Although it was moving the bulk of manufacturing to Michigan, from the current production line in Oshawa, Ontario, the company issued a press release that read,"The 2014 Impala will be offered in LS, LT and LTZ models, with assembly at GM's Detroit-Hamtramck, Michigan, and Oshawa, Ontario fac…

Audi R8 Drifts, Smashes Into Lada Rolling it Over, then Runs Away from the Scene

There seems to be no end in sight to the crazy stories from the wild, wild East that is Russia's roads. Today, one of our readers tipped us off about this footage showing an Audi R8 making a very quick U-turn on a central road, somewhere in Russia. For a couple of seconds, all seems to be going well but as the German sports car enters the straight it smashes onto the side of what looks like an older Lada Samara, knocking the Russian sedan over. While we see people running to help the driver of the gr…
