Testing the Goods: Wacom’s Bamboo Stylus Turns the iPad Into a SketchPad

Wacom Bamboo Stylus Stands Alone Dan BracagliaWacom’s Bamboo Stylus is the best tablet-focused stylus we’ve seen so far–but does the iPad benefit from having a stylus at all?
Wacom is well-known for their artist’s tablets, smallish touch-sensitive squares that graphic designers use as digital sketchpads. But a different kind of tablet has recently taken hold, and Wacom doesn’t want to miss the boat on the iPad or the various other tablets hitting the market these days. Hence the Bamboo Stylus and Bambo…

Motor Trend managing editor Rusty Kurtz snapped this photo with his phone in Southern California’s Mojave desert, near the testing grounds for a number of manufacturers, among them Hyundai.
This vehicle appears to be the company’s recently-introduced Euro-market compact crossover, the ix20. Depending on trim and powertrain, it weighs between 2600 and 3000 pounds. It is available with either a 125 hp 1.6 liter gas four-cylinder engine, or a 1.4 liter diesel with 90 hp and 162 lb-ft of torque…

Testing the Goods: HTC’s Evo 3D, the Country’s First Glasses-Free 3-D Smartphone

HTC Evo 3D: Cameras Here you can see the Evo 3D’s dual-lensed 3-D camera on the back of the phone, as well as that excellent shutter button Dan NosowitzSprint’s new stereoscopic smartphone boasts a 3-D display and camera–but is it worth the (literal) headache?
HTC’s Evo line of Android smartphones is big on firsts: The Evo 4G was the first 4G phone in America (by current definitions, at least), and its sequel, the Evo 3D, is the nation’s first to pack a glasses-free stereoscopic 3-D display, like the Ni…

2012 BMW M6 Spied Testing, gets New M5’s Twin-Turbo V8

These are some of the clearest spy shots of BMW’s next M-branded model, the M6 Coupe, which will take its place as the flagship version of the new F13 6-Series. The recent unveiling of the new M5 sports saloon gives us an idea of what to expect in terms of performance as the M6 will be powered by the same twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 engine. The force-fed V8 brings an end to a line of naturally aspirated engines for the M6 that started with the iconic straight six of the first generation and cont…

Spied! Possible U.S.-Market Fiesta ST Five Door Caught Testing at ‘Ring

Several more photos have surfaced of the Ford Fiesta ST testing at the Nürburgring, this time it’s the five-door hatch – the version most likely to show up on U.S. streets. Although the car appears to be wearing the same front fascia as the U.S. spec SES trim already on sale, the “fake mustache” looks identical to the one previously seen on the three-door Fiesta ST testing at the ‘Ring last month.
The concentrated camouflage covering the center of the bumper/grill area suggests the testers ma…

Jaguar XKR-S Convertible Spied Testing

Jaguar’s product planners seem to have taken the old saying “There’s an ass for every seat,” massaged it into “There’s a convertible for every coupe,” and made it their plan of attack. The 2012 Jaguar XKR-S coupe made its debut at this year’s Geneva auto show, and sure enough, our spy shooters have captured an XKR-S convertible out testing. The XKR-S will join the XK, XKR, and XKR Black Pack convertibles and their coupe counterparts in the XK lineup. The prototype convertible in the phot…

SCOOP: Land Rover Spotted Testing the 2013 Range Rover

Although roughly less than two years away from launch, Land Rover continues to use engineering mules to test the next generation of its Range Rover model. And by mules, we mean that the British firm is utilizing a modified body of the current luxury SUV with a different front end and beefier wheel arches hiding the wider tracks of the new platform architecture. And while the 2013 Range Rover’s looks remain a mystery for now, we do know that it will adopt a new lightweight aluminium chassis using know…

Nissan testing electric-vehicle rescue truck to help stranded LEAF owners

Having range-anxiety is one of the many reasons consumers end up shying away from electric-cars. As the producer of the world’s first mass electric-car, the LEAF, Nissan is testing an EV rescue vehicle to recharge stranded LEAF drivers in Japan.
Think of the EV rescue vehicle like a tow truck that doesn’t tow. The truck is equipped with a charging system for electric-cars, that help stranded drivers needing a little bit of juice. The rescue truck is being deployed to “build confidence …
