I’m hoping vehicle manufacturers stop, look at the infotainment/hmi/in-car technology they have in the works, and ask, and#8220;Could a child use this system to the extent it was intended?and#8221; This is how simple these systems need to be in order to…

Kindle Paperwhite Glows Dan BracagliaMost of the Popular Science staff is based in New York City and the surrounding areas, which is great usually, but not so much today. Here’s how we prepared for the hurricane. Paul Adams, Senior Editor In the course of everyday life at PopSci, I find myself pleasingly well equipped for disaster to strike. As we found in our road test, there are certainly more practical cars out there than the Fiat 500 convertible. Many have roomier rear seats, back doors to access them, and get about the same fuel economy as the tiny Cinqucento for little, if any more, money. But I’ve found few of those cars to be as fun to drive.
I recently spent three days and more than 500 miles in our Fiat 500 convertible, and it took me by surprise. I had spent a fair amount of time driving our previous brown Fiat 500 Sport. I rem…

There’s no denying that we get to drive some pretty sweet cars working here at Motor Trend, especially when you take our 2011 Best Driver’s Car competition into account, which featured a combined total of 82-cylinders, 5000 horsepower, and a combined value of $1.5 million, in a field that featured the likes of the Ferrari 458 Italia, Nissan GT-R, and yes, the Lexus LFA. But for every Ferrari, Porsche and Corvette we drive, there’s an equal amount of Nissan Versas, Scion iQs, and Smart ForTwos to t…

Smart has been falling off the map slowly because the brand’s awareness has decreased significantly. But to reinvigorate the brand, a new team was appointed to run the company for Daimler AG and they feel that Americans are shunning the Smart ForTwo because very little knowledge is known about the car, especially since marketing hasn’t exactly been Smart’s strong suit as of recent.

Recession? Glass debt ceilings? Financial crisis? What financial crisis? Things appear to be going quite swimmingly for the world’s wealthy, judging by the increase in demand for Rolls-Royce’s personalization options. According to Rolls, its Bespoke personalization program has proven so popular with customers that the maker is expanding its workforce to keep up with demand. It may seem rather obvious that the extremely well-heeled clientele of Rolls-Royce like to spec their chariots to their…
