In 2007, our founder Robert Farago wrote this piece. It is still bouncing around on Facebook. It never stopped being true, and it became extra pertinent with the launch of the new Corvette. People often accuse us of being “biased” against GM. My answer in private, today for the first time uttered in public, always was: “Not true. GM is biased against TTAC.”
In May 2011, with Ed still at the helm, I dragged him to Detroit, and up the escalators of RenCen to make an end to the usel…

California 24 Hours of LeMons races always feature plenty of BMWs in the mix, though some racers got much more creative with their car choices, but many of the E30 3-series and E28 5-series cars tend to sink into the mud of the standings when their delicate electrical systems and breakage-prone rocker arms act up. Today, however, was different; when the checkered flag ended the first race session, six of the top ten places were filled with Bavarian machines (the other four are held by two Mazdas, a Niss…

When driving a large and heavy vehicle like a bus, it doesn't take much for an otherwise simple maneuver to turn into a potentially life-threatening situation. In the following incident that was shot somewhere in Asia just last week, a bus driver appears to change lanes a little bit too fast (that or there was something wrong with the tires and/or the road) and then starts to drift all over the place only missing the median in front. The words Jaguar and supercharged have gone together like fish ‘n chips ever since the 1980s, to produce some seriously potent cars. The next big supercharged car that’s receiving all of the anticipation for the coming years is the new baby Jaguar sports coupe that’s targeted directly at the Porsche 911.
The concept to-be-production is the Jaguar C-X16, or the soon to be F-Type, which when ready for production, is said to be donning an all-new supercharged V6. As a result, Jaguar has just teased i…

When Audi showed the 2013 A8 3.0T at the Detroit auto show, it claimed the 333-hp, supercharged 3.0-liter V-6 that replaced the 372-hp, 4.2-liter V-8 would achieve better fuel economy. And what would the gain be? Well, according to the EPA, there isn’t a gain.

BMW’s i8 Concept Spyder shows that no matter how high-tech, carbon-fiber-clad, or battery-laden the car, some conventional rules still apply. In this case, even the mighty Bavarian automaker couldn’t escape the Aristotelian maxim, “Where there is a coupe, soon follows a convertible.” (We may be a bit rusty on our Greek history.) And so we have this i8 Concept Spyder, which essentially is an i8 coupe without a fixed roof. Critically, though, the i8 Spyder looks more like a production vehicle…

It doesn’t matter who you blame, it’s all the same in the end.
With the successful launch of the world’s first mass-produced all-electric car – and reigning World Car of the Year – tucked under CEO Carlos Ghosn’s Levantine belt, Nissan’s very first semi-electric foray into motoring should be a straight-forward application of now-familiar technology.
Battery + Motor + Luxury = Infiniti M35h

Ward’s even went so far as to crown the M35h’s novel powertrain, w…

When a consumer reads a road test—from any source—they want to know that the reviewer isn’t playing games with the results, such as holding back data to make one product gain an unfair advantage. Equally, consumers want to know that the product delivers as advertised: that the smart phone battery does last the 8 hours between charges….that the music player does hold 16 gigs of data…that the toaster does accommodate Texas Toast.
But manufacturers try and game the product revi…
