When we saw that Speedycop and the Gang of Outlaws had raised the bar to stratospheric heights with their race car made from a Cessna 310 fuselage affixed to a Toyota Space Van chassis during the Southern Discomfort inspections on Friday, almost everybody at the track thought that the Spirit of LeMons would explode, or flip over, or something terrible as soon as its tires touched the race track on Saturday morning. Not so! As you can see in the above photograph of the Spirit of LeMons dueling with the C…

If Ettore Bugatti and Peter Carl Fabergé could travel through time for a collaboration, it’s not inconceivable that any end product of their labors would bear remarkable resemblance to the three Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport roadsters just introduced at the 2013 Geneva auto show.
This time, however, treatments such as fine enameled porcelain and others seen on various Veyron specials have been eschewed in favor of carbon fiber—lots of it. The one-of-a-kind 2013 Bugatti Veyrons, each with a price …

With all the incidents filmed on Russian roads, (you can head over to Jalopnik for some of the best dashcam clips of 2012 – we're preparing our own list, too), we rarely say this about a road rage incident, but WOW. There's road rage, there's psychotic and then there's "this windshield ain't going to stop me punching your face" kind of rage, which makes Mad Max and Toecutter look like Care Bears… We only get to hear and watch one side of the story in this incident as t…

What better way to experience the 2013 Ford Shelby GT500′s intoxicating exhaust note than hitting the open road in the convertible version? Technical director Frank Markus did just that on the latest episode of Epic Drives, driving the drop-top Mustang across the Mohawk Trail. Markus’ drive with his 662-hp mount starts out in Lowell, Massachusetts [...]

In the first installment of our series on how cars get from the assembly line to the showroom, we looked at rail transportation. While not all new cars are shipped by rail, they all end up on a truck at least once on the journey.
The use of trucks to haul automobiles probably developed pretty early on. Even though intercity shipping was done by rail, you still had to get the merchandise from the freight terminal to the showroom–very few (if any) car dealers had their own rail sidings!
As the highway …

Ever get nostalgic for the good old days, when gas was (relatively) cheap and you didn’t need to get to the airport hours ahead of your flight to clear security? While life was (arguably) easier in the decades before the internet, email, tweeting and texting, options for performance cars pale by today’s standards.
In the mid to late 1980s, one of the fastest cars produced in America came from Buick, and it didn’t even have a V-8 stuffed under the hood. Instead, Buick’s Regal Grand National…
