Smugglers from Mexico Learn that the Jeep Cherokee is Trail Rated, not Border Fence Rated…
What will they think of next? A group of suspected smugglers attempted to cross the U.S. border on Tuesday using an older Jeep Cherokee and two makeshift ramps on either side of the 14-foot fence at California’s Imperial Sand Dunes. Their "Trail Rated" plan, however, hit a snag, when the Jeep became stuck on the metal barrier. Priced at about $50,000, the upcoming pure-electric RAV4 EV is government-rated at 76 mpg equivalent (MPGe) with a 103-mile range. This electric SUV will go on sale in California on Sept 24th.
Available for purchase or lease, the RAV4 EV will be priced at $49,800. The pint-sized Fiat 500 has gotten a small bump in its EPA numbers for 2013. The 2012 500 fitted with a manual transmission managed a 30 mpg city and 38 highway, falling just short of the magic 40-mpg mark. Thanks to a taller final-drive ratio and improved aerodynamics., the 2013 model with the row-your-own gearbox received boosted ratings of 31/40. The Tesla Model S was rated at 89 MPGe overall, 88 in the city and 90 on the highway, according to EPA tests. (MPGe measures the energy usage of cars based on the equivalent energy they would have used if they ran on gasoline.) This gives the Model S electric sedan a maximum range per charge of 265 miles, disappointingly short of Tesla’s previously claimed 300 miles for the Model S with it’s top-of-the-line 85-kWh battery pack.
