Audi Planning New Range of Q Crossover Models

In the fight for the number-one spot among luxury automakers, Audi is betting on its Q line of crossovers. At a financial press conference on March 12, Audi CEO Rupert Stadler explicitly noted that “global demand for SUVs is growing strongly.” He expects that by 2020, every third Audi sold would be an SUV; currently, one in four vehicles alls into that category. Stadler then annouced that the company would “create a broad range of offerings: more sportiness, more variety, more profile,…

The BMW i3 Looks to Boost Electric Range

The BMW i3 is one of the newest models that the German automaker is expecting to manufacture for the North American market in the coming year. What is unique about it, and allows it to stand out from other models that BMW currently offers, is it is a purely electric vehicle. The problem that BMW is facing is that they are beginning to jump on this electric gravy train a bit later than expected. Because of their late integration of this new technology, they find that the expected 60-90 charged elect…

BMW: The Ultimate Range Anxiety Cure?

The Tesla vs. New York Times controversy has finally left the news cycle, forgotten in less time than it takes a Model S to juice up at a Supercharger station.  Meanwhile, BMW is ready to introduce its new range of “i” vehicles, which will conveniently dodge the whole question of range anxiety.
Select European outlets were invited for ride-alongs in BMW’s new i3 city car and i8 supercar. The impressions gleaned from ride-alongs are generally next to worthless, but the technology bei…

Winter chills limit range of the Tesla Model S electric car

We’ve been enjoying the Tesla Model S as it goes through its break-in period, leading into formal testing. During this time, I’ve been keen to find out its real-world range, and recently confirmed that driving this electric car—like any other—can bring some range anxiety. Although winter highway driving may present a worst-case scenario, our Tesla actually delivered the range it projected.

It was a chilly 45° F when I pointed our fully charged Model S homeward for my informal experiment, …

Land Rover Sells Out Of 2013 Range Rover

As most of us know, sport utility vehicles were all the rage in the 1990s and early 2000s. You know, back when the economy was roaring and gas was cheap. The HUMMER was the best example of this excess with the H2. It was a trend that fast wore out.
Where is it now? Oh yes, it’s gone. The H2 was often compared with the Land Rover Range Rover, which has seen its sales rise consistently over the years. It doesn’t take rocket science to know that there was a big difference though. The Range R…

Future Cars: Conceptualizing the 2014 Range Rover Sport

Drug dealers and gangsters unite (and of course the rest of us who like a sporty Rangie); the British off-road specialists are re-imagining their entrant to the hyper SUV market – that being the all-new Range Rover Sport. The current generation of the Sport has been with us since 2005 as a sportier alternative to the larger Range Rover. It's been a hit with the trendy suburbanites and downtown corporate suites here and in Europe – although in the latter land they're mainly used for transporting…

2013 Range Rover HSE Riding on Vossen’s Concave 22-Inch Rims [w/Video]

The creative minds at Land Rover may have found a way to shave up to nearly 1,000 pounds (~450kg, depending on the engine and equipment grade) on the new 2013 Range Rover over the model it replaces, but the premium SUV continues to have a very large footprint and as such, there's no denying that it looks better with bigger wheels.
