Lotus happy with its qualifying result on US Gran Prix

An exciting inaugural qualifying session at the Circuit of the Americas saw Romain Grosjean set the fourth-fastest time with Kimi Räikkönen right behind him in fifth.

Johnson is No. 2 in Friday Pro Stock qualifying at Pomona Finale

It’s been 17 long years in the making, but now Mopar Dodge Avenger driver Allen Johnson is just a day away from putting himself and his J&J Racing team in the record books as NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series Pro Stock champions. Johnson ended the single Friday qualifying session at the Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA Finals in Pomona, Calif., in the No. 2 spot, with only two final qualifying rounds tomorrow standing between him and the 2012 NHRA Pro Stock title.

Yamaha Factory Racing’s Jorge Lorenzo set a new Fastest Lap record of 2’00.334 on his last qualifying lap at Sepang International Circuit to claim his seventh pole position of the season.

Lorenzo’s record lap was enough to depose Repsol Honda’s Dani Pedrosa to second on the grid for tomorrow’s race by 0.194 seconds, while Monster Yamaha Tech 3’s Andrea Dovizoso qualified third and 0.233 seconds off Lorenzo’s time.

Loeb and Elena set fastest time on Rally Finland’s qualifying stage

Rain in Finland made for a very interesting qualifying stage today, and it was the defending championship team that earned the right to elect their starting position for this weekend’s Rally Finland. Citroen’s Sebastien Loeb and Daniel Elena did not have an easy run on the 4.26km special test.

Alonso times in fastest at rain-delayed Silverstone qualifying.

Fernando Alonso took pole for the FIA Formula One British Grand Prix at constantly changing Silverstone track, besting Red Bull’s Mark Webber by just .47 seconds.

This comes after a heroic win by the Spaniard in Valencia last month and a dominating performance at last year’s British race; Ferrari may have all the pace now at Silverstone.
