* Not too long ago we saw some of Alex Tremulis’s photos from the 1955 Paris Motor Show, and this week Steve Tremulis at Gyronaut X-1 treated us to some of Alex’s shots from the 1956 Motorama, including a couple of the Pontiac Strato Star, above.
* Over at Consumer Guide’s Daily Drive, Frank Peiler envisioned the 1957 Packard in alternative universes where, instead of Packard using Studebaker bodies, it used Imperial, Nash, Cadillac, or Lincoln bodies.

Nissan’s DeltaWing racer, sideways in turn 11
We’re not ones to give in to superstition, but there’s a growing body of evidence to suggest the Nissan DeltaWing racer is cursed. The innovative race car crashed hard at Le Mans when it collided with a Toyota TS030, and many thought the car’s racing days were over. Fans were thrilled when it was announced the car would return to the American Le Mans Series for one more race, this weekend’s Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta.
As the video below (fr…

A technological standout at the 2012 Le Mans 24-Hour race in June, the Nissan-powered DeltaWing was sold to media under the term “incubator for innovation” for both auto racing and for passenger car design. Adapted from a concept proposed for the 2012 IZOD INDYCAR Series, the DeltaWing’s failure to win the future look of open wheel racing was not the end of the line for the radical racecar. Spending a year of effort to outfit the DeltaWing to sports car specifications and…

Even though Triumph sponsored this film of the 1961 running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans – and understandably we see plenty of the Triumph works team that entered the race that year – that doesn’t mean they neglected to cover the other makes racing alongside them.

Where exactly this street scene – which we found on the Duke University Libraries’ online archive – took place, we can only guess. The license plates appear to be California black plates, but there isn’t quite enough resolution to see them or the street sign in the distance in detail. What year it was taken is quite simple to determine as long as you’re familiar with automakers’ marketing slogans, particularly the patriarchal ones that wouldn’t fly today. What d…
