You Never Know What a Lada Will Throw at You

Here's further proof that you don't really have to try to think of new jokes about Lada's vehicles as the Russian brand's models are always ready to provide new material just by existing and traveling on the roads. Word of advice for those of you planning to spend the next 20 seconds watching the dash-cam footage in the video after the jump; be careful not to strain your neck as you try to avoid the oncoming hood… Read more »Copyright © Carscoop.blogspot.com – All Rights Reserv…

Driver Ejected from Lada Wins Chuck Norris Stamp of Approval

Sometimes the universe conspires to work against you but sometimes it works to help you out. This time it was clearly a case of the latter. Not only did the driver of this white Lada 110 (or VAZ-2110) avoid being hit by a Mercedes-Benz E-Class when he lost control of his car; not only did he miss the concrete pole when he was ejected from the Russian sedan; not only did he avoid being run over by the German saloon but he also managed to avoid any serious injuries! Audi R8 Drifts, Smashes Into Lada Rolling it Over, then Runs Away from the Scene

There seems to be no end in sight to the crazy stories from the wild, wild East that is Russia's roads. Today, one of our readers tipped us off about this footage showing an Audi R8 making a very quick U-turn on a central road, somewhere in Russia. For a couple of seconds, all seems to be going well but as the German sports car enters the straight it smashes onto the side of what looks like an older Lada Samara, knocking the Russian sedan over. While we see people running to help the driver of the gr…

Lada Station Wagon Flies Into a Snow Bank

For some strange reason, certain Russian owners of Lada's classic Riva series believe that their car is an invisible machine on wheels built for extreme speeds. Like this driver of a station wagon version of the Riva who thought it would be a great idea to push the pedal to the metal on a snowy road bypassing the rest of the cars. See what happened next in the video that follows past the jump. Read more »Copyright © Carscoop.blogspot.com – All Rights Reserved

Watch a Lada blow its top

While we may love the Fiat 124 Special here in The Garage, the sporting nature of that sedan did not survive the trip from Italy to Russia. The turd that came from the former Soviet Union was decidedly less cool. Even still, there are still some running around Russia. The guy in the video after the break must have thought he was pretty cool, blasting around in his 30 year old shoebox. Cool that is, until it decided to blow its lid.

Name That Shifter, No. 35: 1989 Lada Samara

On Monday we presented this week’s shifter and asked you to identify the make and model of the vehicle from whence it came. This week’s shifter left many of you scratching your heads, and no one was able to determine the car it belongs to. Worry not, Backfires members, because this week’s shifter was a tough one. The shifter is from a 1989 Lada Samara, a Russian-made hatchback.
The Lada Samara was never imported into America, but Canada opened its borders to the Communist-built ha…

Surf over to www.lada.ru, and click on “Автомобили” (automobiles), and you’ll find four model lines: Priora, Kalina, Samara and the classic, Putin-favored 4×4.
