Records are meant to be broken, and that is an adage Audi has taken to heart. There’s no hotter brand in the United States luxury space than Audi. Thanks to a lineup of fresh products, sales are up significantly. The company has just announced an all-time record for the month of July, with a 28% increase over July 2011.
At 11,707 This marks the brand’s 19th consecutive month of record sales. The first seventh months of 2012 have set a year-to-date record as well. Particularly of interest…

I'm sure at least some of you have seen the 1985 Saab 900 Turbo limousine that has been making the rounds of the automotive blogosphere over the last few weeks, most prominently on Autoblog and Bring a Trailer. As a dyed-in-the-wool first-gen Saab 900 Turbo fanatic, this car leaves me sputtering and speechless, my mental wheels spinning helplessly while I try to sort out how I feel about it. Countering talk of an impending end to the new car party, augurs predict that July will be seasonally hot. TrueCar says that this July could be the best since the heydays of 2007. TrueCar, which bases its projections on real time transactions from its associated dealers, thinks that July sales could reach 1.17 million, up 10.6 percent from July 2011. Edmunds also sees 1.17 million new cars in its crystal ball. Kelley Blue Book basically agrees with 1.16 million on its tip sheet.

This Week in the Future, July 16-20, 2012 Baarbarian This week’s Baarbarian illustration provokes some questions. Is space relaxing? Can no one being able to hear you scream actually be a positive in some respects? These are things to consider as you orbit the Earth on your day off. Want to win this philosophical Baarbarian illustration on a T-shirt? It’s easy! The rules: Follow us on Twitter (we’re @PopSci) and retweet our This Week in the Future tweet. Have you walked out to the car lately and found it looking something like this? Well, you're not alone. Most of the Nation has had an epic heat wave lately; here in Nashville, we set an all-time (not daily) record of 109° on Friday, June 29th.
The outside of our cars is taking a beating in this heat; of course, it's even hotter inside the car. And after a long day at work, getting into our mobile ovens can be unpleasant, at best.
One thing I do to help relieve this scorching misery is to lay a l…
