The Continental: Infiniti Goes Forward, Porsche Under Watch, and We See the Light

Each week, our German correspondent slices and dices the latest rumblings, news, and quick-hit driving impressions from the other side of the pond. His byline may say Jens Meiners, but we simply call him . . . the Continental.
Last Friday in London, I had the chance to sit down with Shiro Nakamura, Nissan’s head of design, and Andy Palmer, Infiniti chief and Nissan senior VP of product planning. The occasion: Infiniti’s opening of a very nice showroom right next to Audi’s and around the co…

Lotus Goes a Little Bit Crazy: All-New, Six-Car Lineup Debuts at Paris Auto Show – Car News

A renaissance plan loaded in equal measures with glory and peril.
Lotus and the Andy Warhol Phenomenon
Andy Warhol was the man who came up with the 15 minutes of fame concept, and that’s what Lotus Cars pursued at its Paris show press conference. Most of the show’s 31 press conferences on Thursday were scheduled for 15 minutes, and Lotus crammed six new product presentations into that meager time span. To understate the obvious, doing so was an ambitious plan. But it also was an appropriate one, bec…

2010 Paris: Kia Goes Sci-Fi with Pop Electric City Vehicle

Kia gave us a preview of its Pop electric city vehicle a few weeks back, but clammed up when it came to discussing details. After unveiling the car this morning at the 2010 Paris Motor Show, the company spilled the beans on its microscopic concept.Designers aimed to create a car that looked at the “true future” of urban transport, not simply the state of wheeled mobility a few years down the road. As a result, those tasked with crafting the Pop were apparently inspired by modes of transportation other th…

Spied! Pagani C9 Prototype Goes Testing In Southern Europe

Thanks to our skilled spy photographers, we bring you more images of the so-called Pagani C9 supercar caught resting from high altitude runs in southern Europe. So far, this is the best look at the car’s curvaceous exterior, which, of course, is made from a lightweight carbon composite material. Unlike the smashed prototype in Germany, this prototype is completely intact, and by the looks of it, is in near production specification. Its rounded nose is interesting, to say the least — the huge sculpted a…

Infiniti Goes Compact With Leaf-Based EV and Something Sporty

Infiniti chief Andy Palmer has confirmed that the brand will get a fully electric vehicle based on the Nissan Leaf. The car will be launched in 2013 and it will come to the U.S. market.
