New IIHS crash tests finds some family cars outperform luxury models

Proving paying more doesn’t automatically equate to safer, some midsized cars do better than luxury models in the new frontal offset crash test conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

Report: Study finds Toyota Prius not popular with car thieves

According to the National Insurance Crime Bureau, the Toyota Prius is less likely to be stolen in the United States compared with other cars of similar age.

The reason? A pretty obvious one – the report says that thieves look for parts that can be used in more-common vehicles….

EPA finds Hyundai exaggerated fuel economy claims, refunds coming to customers

Hyundai and Kia today announced that the companies are revising their fuel economy estimates downward after the EPA spot-checked several models and found that the results did not live up to Hyundai’s and Kia’s claims.

The affected Hyundai models include the 2012 and ’13 Accent, Elantra, Sonata Hybrid, Azera, Tucson, and Veloster, and the 2012 Genesis sedan and 2013 Genesis coupe, and Santa Fe Sport. From Kia, this correction includes 2012 and ’13 Rio, Sorento, Soul, and Sportage.

NASCAR – Hamlin Scores The Pole For Indy – Edwards Finds His Stride – Allmendinger Accepts His Fate

Denny Hamlin Set The Pace for the Brickyard.
Toyota is always looking to do something they have not done yet, and Denny Hamlin gave them something just like that this weekend.  Taking his first ever pole at the Brickyard, also a first for Toyota, Hamlin set a pace to take his 11th career pole at 49.244 seconds (182.763 mph) that no one even came close to.  Toyota has still not won a race at the Brickyard so Denny still has some work to do to complete the wish list for NASCAR’s newest manufacturer…

NASCAR – Busch Finds The Front in Loudon – Stewart Haas Are Counting on Success

Kyle Busch edged Kasey Kahne and teammate Denny Hamlin for the Pole by a mere .003 and .004 of a second.

Fiat 500 convertible finds a fan among the staff

As we found in our road test, there are certainly more practical cars out there than the Fiat 500 convertible. Many have roomier rear seats, back doors to access them, and get about the same fuel economy as the tiny Cinqucento for little, if any more, money.
