GM announced back in 2011 that there would be an oil-burning Chevy Cruze would eventually make its way to the U.S. market to compete against the likes of the Volkswagen Jetta TDI. The future is now the present, and Chevy has pulled the wraps off of the 2014 Cruze TD, which of course stands for turbo diesel.
Originally there was a mid-cycle refresh scheduled for the Cruze for the 2014 model year, but as you can see, that idea was put on ice. The 2014 Cruze looks basically the same as the origin…

Technically, the current generation of the Chevrolet Cruze went on sale in the United States and Canada in the fall of 2010 as a 2011 model, but the compact sedan model was first introduced as the Daewoo Lacetti in South Korea in 2008 before GM discarded the Daewoo nameplate and replaced it worldwide with the bow-tie brand. Therefore, for General Motors, the Cruze has essentially entered its fourth year in production, which means the company has already started work on its replacement. Read more »Copy…

General Motors has recalled 413,418 2011 and 2012 Chevrolet Cruzes to modify the engine shield under the vehicle to help prevent fluid, such as oil, from being trapped in the engine compartment, where it could contribute to starting or spreading fire.
GM will also inspect vehicles included in this recall to check that welds in the rear compartment were properly applied. Omitted or partially completed welds in up to 249 cars may affect the fuel tank strap secondary brackets attachment to the floor stru…

As mentioned yesterday, Consumer Reports bought fuel-efficient versions of big-selling small sedans. We’re going to find out if these special models really save money at the pump. I was assigned to buy our 2012 Chevrolet Cruze Eco. Sometimes car shopping is a pain (my colleague Mike Quincy will soon share about buying our BMW 3 Series). Sometimes it’s easy. This one was easy.
First off, finding the car was easy; most local dealers had more than one Cruze Eco in their inventory. I found a ca…

While Car Lust is not charged with keeping up with current events, when I got an opportunity to plug in to a Chevy Volt test drive it sparked my curiosity. While I'm resistant to GM in general, I was amped up at the chance to get my hands on the much-touted Volt and see for myself if it truly lives up to its hype.
Did I have a positive or negative reaction? The answer will shock you.
At last year's Cleveland Auto Show, GM showed a single Volt, which was in a different part of the hall from the m…

A male driver of a rental Chevrolet Cruze was involved in what can only be described as a nightmare scenario for any road user when an 18-wheeler truck loaded with cardboard boxes flipped on its side and landed on top of the compact sedan. The accident took place in the northbound lanes of the Dallas North Tollway in Texas in the late morning hours of Thursday. The large rig also knocked over the concrete center barrier and hit another vehicle, a black Volkswagen Touareg, hurling it over the median and…
