How would you react if you saw that the and#8220;Mona Lisaand#8221; was going up for auction? What about the Statue of Liberty or Big Ben? Would you sit there, jaw agape, dumbfounded that a cultural treasure — one-of-a-kind irreplaceable objects — are…

The sad story of Saab's demise has been discussed many times before, and aside from all of the historical value of the brand, there is also another aspect which is often overlooked. While Saab may have been owned by GM and forced to use various bits and parts from Opel/Vauxhall , the new 9-5 showed real promise. If it would have been thoroughly finished when launched, it could have provided the Audi A6 and Mercedes-Benz E-Class with some competition. Read more »

THAAD interceptor missile U.S. Missile Defense AgencyNorth Korea has basically zero chance of hitting anyone but themselves with a nuke. But if they did manage to launch a missile, what technology do we have to stop it? In response to questions about North Korea’s latest threats to nuke the U.S., White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said yesterday: “I can tell you that the United States is fully capable of defending against any North Korean ballistic missile attack.” This is the most definitive stateme…

Head To Head From the Centers of Disease Control and PreventionWe take a look at a new idea about head injuries in football. There’s plenty of evidence that repeated head hits in football-even if they don’t quite cause concussions-are associated with neurological problems later in life. Yet what exactly happens in the years between a hit and the appearance of symptoms such as memory loss and depression? What exactly causes the symptoms, and how might medicine prevent them? One group of researchers has a…

When the Barris-built Batmobile sold for $4.62 million last month, it became the most valuable TV or movie car in the world, taking that title (by a mere $11,500) from a 1964 Aston Martin DB5 that was used onscreen in Goldfinger and Thunderball. Now another James Bond DB5 has come up for sale with an asking price that comes awful close to those two selling prices. Apparently used to promote both Bond films, the DB5 that Swiss billionaire Thomas Straumann is selling through classic Aston Martin dealer Ric…

Let's face it (pun intended); looks, beauty and taste are subjective concepts. What one person finds attractive, someone else will view as average or even worse, but there are some things that the majority of people will agree upon. For example, most people found the Pontiac Aztek's face aesthetically repulsive, while countless words have been written about the BMW 7-Series' (E65) droopy snout. The jury on the new Jeep Liberty-replacing , 2014 Cherokee's distinct fascia is still out, h…

We bring you a fun game of Name That Corvette, in the form of a Chevrolet C7 Corvette caught testing wearing a dapper yellow paint job with silver stripes. Our spy photographers seem to think they stumbled onto something more than a regular-grade C7 test mule, either the next Z06 or even a resurrected Grand Sport model (The stripes! Look at the stripes!). We’re thinking it’s probably something else.
To our eyes, nothing about this Vette suggests it is the anything other than a regular-grade C7 mule …

It's only been days since GM pulled the covers off from the coupe iteration of the new 2014 Corvette Stingray in Detroit, and even though a convertible body style isn't due for another year or so, images of a drop top version surfaced on the internet today. The pictures were first seen on "The Auto Insider", a site that may or may not be affiliated with a former Jalopnik editor under the same alias, with the author stating, "I might add, this is no render. No pixels were pushed.&…
