The 2013 SRT Viper – image: Richard Prince for Chrysler Group LLC
In the old days of the Viper, any Dodge-franchised dealer could step up and order inventory. As a result, the Viper buying, delivery and service process wasn’t always ideal, potentially souring some shoppers on the new generation of Viper. The new 2013 Scion FR-S is sure to be a big hit among enthusiasts looking for an affordable rear-wheel-drive sports coupe. Unfortunately, those looking to pay around the $25K MSRP price may be out of luck due to Toyota/Scion dealerships tagging a hefty Market Value Markup of almost $7,000.
Market value markups are nothing new under the sun. Better yet, it is rather expected to see such markups on new vehicles that are in high demand. It is actually a legal practice but as you can imagine, paying 7 gra…

Tesla brought a Model S pre-production car to the electric vehicle symposium (EVS26) held in Los Angeles earlier this month. The Model S will be Tesla’s first from-the-ground-up car and will be built in Fremont, California. (The now discontinued Roadster was a converted Lotus Elise.) The latest news is that the deliveries to the first 1,000 customers who opted for the top-trim Signature will begin on June 22nd. A few showrooms already exist and we’re told that more are on the way for major metro areas. …

A sign of emerging technology and a push to minimizing the environmental impact of automobiles has led to the sizable production of electric or electrified vehicles becoming a reality. Dismissed for a long time, cars using battery-backed propulsion are being inundated into a world where a well-performing counterpart (the internal combustion engine) has existed as the standard.
Aside from driving range of a battery-powered vehicle, charging time is the biggest obstacle in operating an electric…
