What at first appeared to be a photo leak, ended up being a full online revealing as BMW has just pulled the virtual cover sheets off of its latest iteration of the F30 BMW 3-Series, the 2014 BMW 3-Series Gran Turismo. Of course, by the name, you can immediately tell that this car follows the same design packaging as its larger brethren, the BMW 5-Series Gran Turismo.
The 2014 BMW 3-Series Gran Turismo can be had in either 328i or 335i form, which means either BMW’s 2.0L TwinPower turbocharged N20 four…
The BMW 3-Series is the car with a target perennially on its back. The 3-Series has been the segment leader for years – both in sales and in acclaim. A lot of cars have attempted to usurp it, and some have been quite good (the Infiniti G got a lot of attention for a while). The 3′s stiffest challenge ever is coming from the 2013 Cadillac ATS, which is generating a wave of good publicity for it’s E46-aping ways.
We’ll see what the market has to say once it goes on sale in ful…

With spring upon us and the temperatures slowly rising in the northern hemisphere, BMW's engineers have no problem opening the top of the next 3-Series Convertible, which like the coupe, you may or may not be forced to call the 4-Series. Luckily for us, one of our spies was in the right place at the right time to snag more than a dozen photos of BMW's testers opening and closing the electrically operated, three-piece hardtop, which neatly tucks away in the trunk at the touch of a button. A 2012 BMW 3-Series with 36 mpg? Does it get much better than that in the sports sedan category? From an efficiency standpoint, probably not – the 3-Series is far ahead of any of the competition by that metric. If any car will pose a serious threat to the 3-Series crown, the Cadillac ATS looks like the one to do it.And the ATS just got an opening in the mileage wars thanks to this news from BMW. When the 2012 3-Series first surfaced, there was a lot of speculation about the mileage. The new car is…
You just got to hand it to die Deutschen for their imagination and über clever marketing tactics. What Japanese carmakers simply called liftbacks and the French didn't even bother naming differently as most of their family cars featured a sloping tailgate anyway (Citroen BX, Renault 25 etc.), the Germans came up with all sorts of fancy names. For example, Audi calls its five-door vehicles with a top-hinged liftgate "Sportback" while BMW went one-step further baptizing its own lineup with …
