It’s an interesting concept that the owner of this 1968 Lotus Super Seven for sale on Hemmings.com had: Finish it out as a luxury Seven – however luxurious one could make a Seven, that is. From the photos, he appears to have done a good job, and anybody wanting to follow Colin Chapman’s “add lightness” mantra could easily undo the changes. From the seller’s description:
This well sorted 1968 Lotus Seven S3, SB2366 has Approx. 44000 miles, 1600 crossflow Ford w/ Ford T…

We always appreciate hearing updates from owners of the cars that have appeared in our publications, so it’s in that spirit that we take a look at this 1968 Ford Thunderbird for sale on Hemmings.com, a car that has seen a few updates since it appeared on the cover of one of our calendars a dozen years ago. From the seller’s description:
53,000 original Mile HEMMING 2001 Calendar Cover Car “GREAT CARS OF THE 60′S” Mild Custom Exterior: Original Magnolia Yellow Paint with Bla…

You know, as many everyday street scenes as we’ve shown, rarely have they featured emergency vehicles. Granted, an emergency by definition doesn’t count as an everyday matter, but one would still expect to see more fire trucks, ambulances, and police cars sharing the streets with four-door sedans and other daily drivers. Let’s make up for that today with a couple shots from Columbus, Ohio, courtesy PhotOhio.org. Above, a scene during the Ohio Penitentiary riot of July 1968, taken at th…

At first glance, it looks like one of those rebodied golf carts popular in retirement communities, but this 1968 Vignale Gamine for sale on Hemmings.com is a legitimate car with Fiat 500 underpinnings. That said, it would probably work well as a retirement community car or as a Mini Moke-type tender, or even as a Jeep Surrey-type resort car. From the seller’s description:
The Vignale Gamine is a small rear-engined car produced by Carozzeria Vignale from 1967 to 1971, based on the Fiat 500, also kn…

Okay, so maybe it’s not an instructional video on how to steal a car, but this FBI training video on how to examine stolen cars for evidence that could return a stolen car or nab the thieves sure shows plenty of tricks and tips, applicable to pre-1968 cars, along with some savvy and well-organized criminals, all wrapped up in a decent storyline. On Monday we presented this week’s shifter and asked you to identify the make and model of the vehicle from whence it came. Several of you recognized that this week’s shifter belonged to something right-hand drive and old, and zeroed in on classic British hardware. The first commenter to correctly identify it as a 1968 Jaguar XJ6 was repeat winner crwpitman.
These XJ6 photos are from Jaguar’s original press materials on the car from 1968. We reviewed an XJ6 in our January 1969 issue, and…

For those of you following our street scene series, you’re likely familiar with Art Fink’s postulation that the Ford Falcon was at one time so ubiquitous that it will appear – Where’s Waldo-like – in just about every American street scene from the Sixties. That said, today’s shot of Seattle’s Boylston Avenue circa 1968, courtesy the Seattle Municipal Archives, shows several Sixties cars of ubiquity. What do you see here?

Let the debate begin: Which is cooler on a muscle car, poverty caps on body-colored steel wheels, or the styled mag-type wheels often offered in the day as options? We ask because this 1968 Oldsmobile 4-4-2 for sale on Hemmings.com, while it has the steelies mounted, can come with a set of Rocket styled steel wheels as well. From the seller’s description:
400-4 matching numbers, automatic transmission, 342 posi rear, power steering, power brakes, factory air conditioning, no vinyl top option, buck…
