Hemmings Find of the Day – 1958 Packard

Packardbakers tend to get ignored because they inhabit this gray area where Packard enthusiasts scoff at their Studebaker underpinnings and Studebaker enthusiasts aren’t entirely sure what to make of their Packard nameplate. Yet this restored 1958 Packard for sale on Hemmings.com shows how stunning a Packardbaker can be when somebody simply appreciates one for what it is. From the seller’s description:
This 1958, 2-door pillarless coupe was 1 of only 675 produced in 1958. The car recently ha…

Hemmings Find of the Day – 1958 Plymouth Suburban

Who needs an SUV? They almost never go off-road (parking on the lawn while hosing down the driveway doesn’t count), and they certainly don’t have the panache of the original suburban warriors’ chariots – station wagons such as this 1958 Plymouth Suburban for sale on Hemmings.com. Nicely refurbished, it’ll haul plenty of kids, soccer balls, and luggage for your cross-country vacation. Just don’t put those lame happy family stick figure stickers on it, okay? From the se…

Hemmings Find of the Day – 1958 Studebaker Silver Hawk

How long will a good restoration last? Sure, the post-restoration automobile isn’t likely to be used and abused as a daily driver, so one would imagine that a restoration would keep for many more years than a new car remains in service. Yet everything ages and decays, and the quality of a restoration surely has an effect on how long it will last. That said, this 1958 Studebaker Silver Hawk for sale on Hemmings.com looks like it was redone much less than 10 years ago and wouldn’t take much fr…

Hereford, Texas, 1958 and 1971

The Portal to Texas History has quite a few photos of the city of Hereford, Texas, particularly of the fire equipment used there, including these shots, taken in 1958 (above), when Hereford’s Fire Department was housed within city hall, and again in 1971 (below 1, 2), a couple years after the department got a place of its own. What do you see in these shots?
