* We were all saddened by the loss of Bob Sinclair earlier this year, and it’s partly because he did cool stuff like this: Build a Volvo dune buggy (called the Burro) and race it in the Baja 1000 in 1968. (via) Dan Johnston of Volvo recalled some details of the buggy for us:
I used to work on that car. Had a vw transporter rear axle that mostly held up rather well. Bob Sinclair, who recently passed away, was an awesome driver. I think at some point in one race, the front wheel was ripped off&#8230…
